What is Revision Eye Surgery?

Some patients may be unsatisfied with the previous surgeries that have resulted in unnatural/abnormal/asymmetrical eye shape. In such cases, patients may consider a secondary surgery to get the desired result. It is important to diagnose the current condition of the eye and analyze the causes of the failure of the previous surgery accurately to prevent further re-operations.

Therefore, it is recommended to seek revision surgery from plastic surgery specialists who have extensive experience and expertise in this area.

Tip 1. It is recommended to receive revision eye surgery at least six months after the previous surgery. The results of the previous eye surgery can be properly evaluated after six months. During the early post-operative period(within 6 months of the previous eye surgery), it is difficult to determine the need for a revision surgery as the tissue may not be fully healed and swelling may still be present.

Revision Eye Surgery is recommended if:

  • You find the results of the previous eye surgery unsatisfactory
  • You have unnatural or asymmetrical eyes from the previous surgery
  • You have multiple double eyelid creases
  • You have visible scars
  • You have difficulties closing your eyes after the previous surgery
