What is Canthoplasty?

Canthoplasty is a type of eyelid surgery that focuses on the width of your eyes.  Canthoplasty is divided into epicanthoplasty which removes the Mongolian (epicanthal) fold, lateral canthoplasty which reshapes the outer corner of the eye, and lateral hotz canthoplasty which lowers outside of the eye to enhance the appearance.

Canthoplasty does not only enhance the width of the eyes, but also aims to create aesthetically pleasing eyes that balance the entire facial structure. The procedure takes into account various factors such as the space between the eyes, the outer corner of the eyes, and the upper eyelids which may be covered by Mongolian fold.

Canthoplasty is recommended if:

  • You want wider eyes
  • You want to improve a droopy or tired look
  • You have already undergone double eyelid surgery with unsatisfying results
  • Your eye's outer corner is angled upward
  • You have asymmetrical eyes
