What is Breast Reduction?

Women with excessively large breasts (breast hypertrophy or macromastia) can experience discomfort and pain due to the weight of their breasts, as well as issues with sagging tissue. Breast reduction surgery can be highly beneficial in correcting both the size and shape of the breasts. However, it is important to note that breast reduction is a complex procedure that should only be performed by experienced plastic surgeons.

Breast reduction is recommended if:

  • Your breasts are excessively large in proportion to your body size

  • Your breasts are sagging due to factors such as pregnancy, childbirth, or weight loss

  • You experience chronic pain in your neck, shoulders, or back due to the weight of your breasts

  • You have a recurring skin problems underneath your breasts

  • You want to resolve the above problems with no visible scarring, minimal pain and tissue damage and with a rapid recovery time and noticeable results

Breast Reduction Surgery Methods

Areola incision method

An incision is made at the edge line of the areolas, which is then concealed in the thick border line of the areolas, making the scar less noticeable. The purpose of this method is to reduce the skin around the areolas and mammary gland tissue. The areola incision method is typically recommended for patients with smaller breasts.

Vertical Incision

Long vertical incisions are made downwards to under the breast after the areolas are cut. This method is more effective than the areola incision method since it removes more breast tissue. It is a highly effective method for lifting the position of the areolas and breasts.

Inverted T-Shaped Incision

An inverted T-shaped incision can be used to treat macromastia and breast ptosis. This method is more effective in reducing the size of the breasts compared to other methods.
