What is Breast Lifting?

Breast ptosis, or drooping of the breasts, is a common concern for women who have undergone pregnancy, breastfeeding, or natural aging. Breast sagging is determined by the position of the nipple in relation to the inframammary fold, which is the line beneath the breasts.

This can happen due to factors such as weight loss, pregnancy, or genetics.

Breast lift surgery, also known as mastopexy, is a procedure that can address this issue by removing excess skin and reshaping the breast tissue. The goal is to lift the breast and reposition the nipple to a more youthful and aesthetically pleasing location. The procedure can also enhance the fullness of the breast and improve overall breast symmetry.

Breast Lifting is recommended if:

  • Your breasts are sagging

  • You are concerned about having little breast volume

  • If your nipples are located below the inframammary fold

  • You want to enlarge or reduce your breasts at the same time together with breast lifting

Determining Saggy Breasts

Normal Breasts: The nipples are located 4-5 cm above the inframammary fold.

Type 1. Mild cases: The nipples are on the line or are a little below the inframammary fold.

Type 2. Moderate cases: The nipples are 1-3 cm lower than the inframammary fold.

Type 3. Severe cases: The nipples are more than 3 cm lower than the inframammary fold.

Sagging Breast Correction Methods

Correction with Implants

Case 1. Breast augmentation using implants can improve mild breast sagging without the need for separate incisional lifting. This procedure can enhance breast volume and shape

Case 2. Combination of Incisional Lifting and Implant Augmentation is recommended for moderate or severe breast sagging.

Correction with Incisional Lifting

Case 1. The Breast Lifting with Areola Incision is suitable for mild breast sagging. If the sagging is less than 1-2 cm, an incision is made around the areola to remove some breast tissue

Case 2. Vertical areola incision breast lifting is a suitable method for correcting severe breast sagging. The surgeon makes an incision around the nipple and vertically below it, using the patient's own breast tissue to correct the sagging
